John has always had pretenses.. For years he’s thought of himself as containing a novel that’s searching for a way out. It’s still searching. He’s also had the feeling that he should never have given up the oboe/piano/guitar because if he hadn’t…well, who knows…by now! At one time he thought he would be a network television newsman. When he discovered Maine, he got off the ladder at the Miami level and joined public TV. He’s always known that he’s basically an actor, ever since, in the second grade, he carried a bright red flag onto a huge stage in Antwerp, as part of a school pageant. The lights! The black barrier between “them” and “us”! The adrenalin! The oneness of a smooth-working production! It really DOES bore deep into one….so much so that he still doesn’t know what he wants to be when he grows up. After all, it’s the journey, isn’t it?
