Scary Stories
Ten Bucks Theatre Company invites you to
experience Scary Stories
“The wind was a torrent of darkness among the gusty trees.
The moon was a ghostly galleon tossed upon cloudy seas.
The road was a ribbon of moonlight over the purple moor,
And the highwayman came riding—
Riding—riding—” The Highwayman, by Alfred Noyes
Fall, and specifically Halloween, is many people’s favorite time of year. Why? Days get shorter and cooler. Nights start to feel a bit unending. Dry leaves skitter in the wind scratching the empty streets like skeleton fingers…, but are they truly empty or is there something or someone lurking there … waiting…???
Scary Stories is a compilation of some of our favorite spooky tales and poems we remember reading under the covers, shivering, wondering if the boogeyman under the bed was going to reach out and grab us or if what was hiding in the closet was peeping out from the door… just… a… bit… ajar.

24 Hour New Play Festival
Ten Bucks Theatre Company is excited to once again partner with the University of Maine’s School of Performing Arts to present
TBT’s 10th Annual 24-Hour New Play Festival!
Why do we keep doing this every year you ask? Because it is sooooo much FUN!!!
In a period of 24 hours, participants will write, rehearse, and perform a series of original (roughly) 10-minute plays.
The 24-Hour New Play Festival will take place in Minsky Recital Hall, located in the Class of 1944 Hall on the UMaine campus. Participants will meet on the evening of Friday, Nov. 8th, be put into ‘draw from a hat’ groups, receive their role assignments (actor, writer or director) and attend workshops. The writers will then take their ideas home to compose a (approximately) 10 minute play, which they will bring back to Minsky on Saturday morning.
Actors, directors, writers and tech crew will then begin the job of bringing these ‘brand spanking new’ shows to life for a 7 pm performance on Saturday, Nov. 9th!
Participant Registration is now open and ends Saturday, Nov. 2nd. There is a $10 registration fee that must be paid by check-in on Nov. 8th. To register to participate in the 10th Annual 24-Hour New Play Festival or to access more information, FAQ’s, etc. please see the event on Ten Bucks Theatre’s Facebook page or at https://forms.gle/g4e17YCYfW6eHGWF9
Audience Members, what do you do? Show up by 7PM November 9th prepared to have a rollicking great time watching a bunch of new plays being brought into the world. Think ‘delivery room’ with absolutely no pain.
